Evaluating Programs Addressing the Opioid Epidemic: RIZE Saving Lives, Improving Health grant evaluation

Client: RIZE Massachusetts
Topic Areas: Behavioral health and substance use; Grant-making programs; Healthcare delivery systems
Service: Participatory Evaluation

ICH was the evaluator for RIZE Massachusetts Foundation’s inaugural grant program, which funded collaborations among medical, behavioral, and community-based organizations with the goal of improving access to treatment for the populations at highest risk for overdose and death. The evaluation included logic modeling and qualitative interviews with each funded program, as well as a quantitative assessment of medical record data using a cascade of care framework. ICH also worked with RIZE to plan and facilitate a series of Learning Communities throughout the grant period. ICH’s evaluation helped each grantee identify gaps and opportunities for improvement, and provided meaningful information about program impact to RIZE  and its funders.
